National Institute for Health Research Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETSCC)

REF: 10_1007 Patient safety in healthcare organisations Details (Hits : 532)

                      Electronic Application form

Last updated - 25 March 2010
Aims: The SDO programme wishes to commission research on aspects of patient safety particularly relating to organisational environments, structures, systems and cultures, consistent with the mission and focus of the SDO programme. In these areas they want to complement, build upon and develop the themes identified in previous research programmes on patient safety. Most recent work has focused on acute care settings, and studies will be particularly welcome that examine patient safety in other settings including the “spaces between” organisations, examining safety on a patient’s journey between professions, services and sectors.
Description: The programme is interested in proposals for research into the following topic areas:
• translating knowledge about patient safety into service delivery
• patient/user involvement in safety improvement
• financial costs and benefits and trade-offs in patient safety boundaries between care processes, services and organisations
• boundaries between care processes, services and
organisations
