Aims: Research on Alcohol-Related Public Policies such as Those Detailed in the Alcohol Policy Information System (R21). This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), solicits grant applications from institutions/organisations to conduct research on the effects of alcohol-related public policies on health-related behaviours and outcomes, evaluations and analysis of the effectiveness of public policy measures in improving public health and reducing the burden of alcohol-related illness and mortality, and research to advance methods and measurement used in studying relationships between alcohol-related public policies and health-related behaviours and outcomes.
Description: PA-07-428. This FOA will use the NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant (R21) award mechanism. As an applicant, you will be solely responsible for planning, directing, and executing the proposed project. This FOA uses “Just-in-Time” information concepts. It also uses the modular as well as the non-modular budget formats (see the “Modular Applications and Awards” section of the NIH Grants Policy Statement.

*Duration: > 3 years
Funding: Combined budget for direct costs for the two year project period may not exceed $275,000 (approx £136,847). No more than $200,000 (approx £99,541) may be requested in any single year.
*Amount: > £100K       (Estimated total funds: £136,847)

Comments: The standard closing dates are 16th February, 16th June and 16th October each year. The closing date for applications applies to the submission of new research grants. Restrictions: This call is open to UK researchers as an example of a Non-domestic Entity (i.e. a non-U.S. Foreign Organisation). Any individual(s) with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research as the PD/PI is invited to work with his/her organisation to develop an application for support. Individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH support.
